My research thesis project titled Rediscovering Brooklyn is one where I explore my neighborhood from a new perspective. More specifically, I explored my neighborhood through the use of the color red. There are photographs of various places and objects found in my neighborhood. All pictures in the series have similar color values. The nature of the content posted will range from objects found in my neighborhood to houses and streets. No two photographs have the same content. I play with the use of angles, use of positive and negative space, and composition. Originally the photographs were digital with a singular red focus, however, the series was then expanded to film photography. I found that the black and white film images when paired with the digital images (red) added depth to my series and expanded it. Content was then posted to instagram and posts were evaluated to see if I was successful in my research or not. Links to my thesis and presentation are listed below the gallery on the header titled “Research”.
